pop up re: restart

have a 2002 g3 ibook on start up a pop up comes on the screen "you need to restart your pc. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press rhe restart button. Have tried force restart using the keyboard as well as the reset button to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated. TY richardgard

That's a Kernel Panic. Something bad is happening during boot up. This G3 must be running Chetah or Tiger? You can try to start in Safe Mode by holding down the SHIFT key during boot up to see if it will come up..
