Apple Extreme Died

iMac 20" 500GB 4GB RAM
My 8 month old Apple Extreme died! I'm thinking of replacing it with a third-party router that can reach more of my house. What would you recommend?

I'd take it back to Apple and asks them to replace it. How long was the warranty? Even if it had expired, if you ask nicely they may replace it anyway.
