Quick silly question -- I have a Macbook 5,1 that I need to remove the hard drive from for a scene in a movie I'm shooting this week. The main character is trying to ditch his hard drive in a dumpster, and I don't have enough $$ to purchase a hard drive to toss-away.

Is it safe to remove my own hard drive and re-install when we're finished filming?

THANKS!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

If you treat it carefully and make sure the drive is not dropped or hit hard. Also if you do have problems later, remember sometimes the SATA cables, which get stiff and brittle from age and heat, do fracture internally.

Why not buy a cheap hard drive enclosure to toss away? Much better than risking your own hard drive I'd have thought?
