I have an iPad Pro and I want to download excel files from a server and open them in Office 365 (Excel) on the iPad Pro. How do I do this?

The way to get them onto your iPad, is to use DropBox, iCloud Drive or any other cloud service, then use the "Open In" feature. Because iOS knows what file it is, Office 365 should show up in the "Open In" feature. Having Office 365 you should have the Microsoft cloud service so use that.

Thanks! I'll have to get my IT folks to tell my how to use our tool to export to the cloud instead of the computer.

As member Tattoo mentioned, a subscription to Office 365 includes the Microsoft Cloud services which works very well. It's called "OneDrive" and loads a folder on your Mac. After signing in to OneDrive, any documents you place in OneDrive on your Mac will appear in OneDrive on your Mac Pro, iPhone, etc. You can then open the documents and edit them just as in MS Office (with some caveats). :)
