So I stumbled on this today - a map of wireless networks and their concentrations around the world. I have no idea where they got their data from but it's fascinating to see how many wireless networks exists in any one particular area.
Yeah, I don't know where they get their data from (I don't see mind but mine isn't broadcast). It is fascinating, even if out of date, to see the concentration of WiFi networks.
Well, just to 'chime in' - I'm on a cul-de-sac and could zoom in so the name of the short street does appear but my Wi-Fi network (which is broadcasting) and that of a half dozen of my neighbors (which I can see using the Wi-Fi icon on my laptop) do not appear - now I'm on my fourth router (although my present SSID is just 2 1/2 years old).
