Will a download pick up where it left off?

So I am downloading a game from gog.com. When I have to close my Macbook Pro, or turn it off, etc., can I get the download to start up again and pick up where it left off? I tried once, but it would not do it. Thank you.

Not familiar with gog whoever they may be but that is the normal procedure.

This is a browser download so it is a little dependant on your browser. I quite my browser (Opera) during download of Outlast and when i restarted the browser it told me I had unfinished downloads "would I like to resume downloads?" I imagine the same would have happened had I shut down but I would not rely on it. If you think you may need to shut down during a download it is better to Copy the Link and paste it into a Download Manager like Progressive Downloader from the App Store.
