I have been using the Times New Roman Font on my MacBook Air for years, then all of a sudden I no longer have italics, I can use italics bold but not just italics!
Also the font itself looks different more like Arial in style. Any suggesting?

Thanks one and all

Fr Gary - please ditch Times New Roman; hard to read, and most folks hate it. San serif fonts are much cleaner. Just my opinion; we all like different stuff! :)

Do a YouTube search for "Death by PowerPoint" done by a comedian by the name of Don McMillan. He has a section of his act that is about fonts. I think we all have this feeling that default is just good enough, but the way he talks about it, it's hilarious.

I've seen this, and it's hysterically funny! Thanks for sharing! It goes along with "Don't use Comic Sans; we are a Fortune 500 company, not a lemonade stand!"

And don't use an overly ornate font, it can be hard to read!

Great example. I certainly did find myself making more of an effort to read it!;)

@Fr. Gary, I hope our wanderings haven't scared you off. We tend to be a pretty snarky group, as this thread has clearly demonstrated! :D

Actually that's not completely true. Most epublications default to Times New Roman because it is easier to read and does not take up as much space as San Serif fonts. I personally do most of my work using the Helvetica font. Also if Father Gary is doing any kind of Bible work or pasting verses into a sermon, most Bible programs use the Times New Roman font as default.

Hmmm…??? Sort of ironic isn't it that any Biblical writing would want to use anything associated with anything Roman. ;)

But amazing how the opinions about Times New Roman can differ and I understand that the Helvetica font is the scourge of the printing industry.

But as for the OP, I'm wondering if Font Book could fix his problem if it and it's repair and check tests still exists with El Cap'n!!
