Full screen reversion when viewing Youtube

Using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on Macbook pro 2015
Selecting full screen from a Youtube page, the screen converts to blank with small blank black viewing rectangle at top left. What is happening?

I just went to YouTube to try it out. It expanded with no problem. Did you get a box asking you if you will allow fullscreen?
