How can I uninstall DuckDuckGo? It has just begun to appear is Safari 9.0.1 and is a nuisance. Thanks to all.

Have you checked for an uninstaller on your computer…or have you visited the developer's website for uninstall info?

Please don't think me rude; but in what way is it a nuisance? You can set any search engine you like as your default so that, unless actively seeking an alternative, you should be unaware of its presence. Just asking.

It's not something that is installed - it's just an option for search like any other. All you can do is change your default and ignore it.

Why would you delete a great search engine that doesn't track you, and doesn't fill up your screen with ads and video?

You know what, I never noticed that before. I just tried it here and you are indeed correct. Searching for Apple in Google gives me the Canadian page first and DDG gives me the American page. Searching for "government offices" in Google gives me local provincial and national gov't offices; DDG gives me some website to find American gov't offices first. Well then, yet another reason not to use it.

You could, of course, contact DDG and ask them when it will be localized for your country ... just a suggestion ...

Did chas when El Capitan was released and the delay in answering is still delaying.

Have selected Australia as Region and Australian English but no joy. Should I do a searh for say OWC, OWC Home comes up, items on eBay.com and finally OWC Australia and their agents. Want it first. But I guess Australia would have one hit in fifty for USA web sites.

That's a bad example, don't you think? OWC is a US-based company, so of course the US version is going to come up first. Now if you did a search on "OWC Australia" and the US site still came up first, that would be an issue.

They are represented in Australia by a company called MacFixit. Okay for me but others have looked for OWC products locally with our GST being talked about going up to 15% and applied to all imports.

Not really. A lot of tech companies are US based but if I search for them in Google, I get their Canadian websites listed (and indeed, the American ones are nowhere to be seen on, at least, the first page).

That's because the provider (I believe, it is what I was told) intercepts all Google.com requests and redirects to Google.ca.

DDG doesn't have a .ca version, ergo we get the only (US centric) version. I encourage people in other countries to join me in asking DDG to consider adding enough smarts to at least "localize the results," though I acknowledge that might compromise the perception of their chief advantage.

(Post accusing me of being a DDG fanboy in 3, 2, ...)

What's the advantage of even asking DDG to have some "localizing of the results" when they don't even include the date of any hit.

I gave up when most of their hits I actually tried were ancient old news and I haven't seen much if any change lately…
