exporting garageband music

how do I save a song I made as an mp3 or some sort of real audio file a not a garageband file.

send it to itunes.. i forgot how but i know thats one way

If I do that.. then delete my project... it would still work? and what format is that?

i would asume that it would still save the song. it exports it to itunes in a .aif file format. i just converted it to .mp3.
