For my daughters wedding, I need to copy parts of a DVD home video to a thumb drive for the DJ to place during the father daughter dance. I am unable to figure out how to do this and I have a week left.

Let's start off with you providing us information about your computer's specs and then tell us what computer apps you have that deal with video media and their formats.

Here's an article that I wrote a few years ago (http://www.atpm.com/12.03/howto.shtml). Start with the Gather Your Tools section. The current version of MPEG Streamclip can be found here (http://www.squared5.com). I used to convert the video clips to DV format but now I use .mp4. It takes up less disk space, gives pretty good quality, and can be played in lots of software.

Well...the simple way is to use Handbrake to turn your DVD into a video file, and then use Quicktime to trim out the sections that you want.

Assuming this isn't a copy protected DVD.
