graphics lettering

Hello, I am used to working with paper & pen maps and have NOT found an app for MAC that can letter on the diagonal or wavy (as on a river course). Paintbrush only works on the horizontal; the vector instructions in Sketch don't work; iDraw uses circular but what about wavy? I would be happy with a simple tool as in Powerpoint that can rotate text. Any suggestions? Thanx

Thanks. I tried using inkscape, but it doesn't work with Yosemite (a well-known problem, apparently). I'll look at Affinity. But what about iDraw? It's a Mac product. Anyone have any opinion about its curved lettering?

Ten years ago I supported a cartography business, and remember they used Adobe Illustrator. But as I don't use Illustrator I can't vouch that it will do what you want, but it's worth investigating.
