Using the latest version of Firefox Browser on Yosemite 10.10.5 shows Firefox 40.0 to be the latest version of Firefox available. Mozilla have issued a security update yesterday taking Firefox to 40.0.2. However when I check for updates it only lists 40.0 and says it is up to date. Any suggestions?

Interesting. Just checked mine in Lion on my older iMac and still 40.0. No update available. Will fire up my Windows 10 system and see if it's the same there!

Ok my Windows 10 FF was 2 versions behind. When it updated it said 40.0.2. It also said Firefox and Windows 10 were meant to be together! :D Grin I am starting to think the .2 update was for Windows 10 only as it seems come up praising Windows 10!

As far as I can tell, FF 40.0.2 is not available for OS X because it only fixes issues for their Windows build.

Just updated FF on OS X and it shows 40.0.2
Maybe the OS X build was released a few hours behind the Windows build.

Version 40.0.2 runs for me using OS X.10.10.5. Pips me a little I was on 36.0 and one download to 39.0, another download to 40.0 and a third to 40.0.2.

Hmmm, I thought the 40.0.2 release was targeted at Windows and Linux to plug that terrible JS bug recently discovered. Perhaps, for the sake of keeping things simple, they released 40.0.2 with the fix for OS X even though it wasn't needed (to keep version numbers in sync).

Hmmm, 40.0.2 is what is says Bryan and it was a small, 25MB or so, update from 40.0 so you could well be right.

So, apparently that exploit I was talking about was patched in a bugfix build of FF 39 and, while initially only limited to Windows and Linux, started affecting Mac build (see here). It's likely then that this exploit was patched prior to FF40 and thus, not relevant. At this point, I think it would be best if I stop speculating and just acknowledge that this was a regular bugfix release, haha.

(I run the beta channel so if you're wondering why I just didn't check my version, that would be why).

Well Gentlemen. Over here in the UK my rig (as in previous post) is still showing 40.0 as the latest and up to date.

On my older iMac with Lion (10.7.5) even downloading 40.0.2 and installing it still shows 40.0 like yours is doing but on my other Macs with 10.10.5 the same install file when installed shows 40.0.2! Crazy stuff!

Color where? As far as I can tell, Firefox, ever since the release of the Australis theme, has basically looked the same.
