If you are using Apple's Mail, then drag and drop will work. However, you will need Mail to be able to open/read them.

Thanks - however drag and drop does not work.
The Mac Mail programme does not seem to have an "export" function.
In logic terms the mail program needs to be able to convert to another format maybe PDF before it can be stored on a disc.
There must be a way, even if it is through archive or something similar.
ANy ideas anybody !

And.... you can always save email messages to plain text. No problem storing or reading those later on. The only problem is that you will not be able to save any images or html with the text.

Hmm...does for me. I can drag a message from my Inbox and drop it into Finder.
