There is a new Internet-based scam going around. I'm hearing from several users a week who have run into it. It is very scary when you encounter it. You may think that it is a "virus", but it isn't. Anti-virus software won't help you with it. I've written an article on how to deal with it:

My pleasure! I've been hearing from about a half dozen users each week who have encountered scareware. I was getting tired of telling each of them how to deal with it. :cool:
Now I can just refer them to this article.

Thanks for that Randy. Well written and informative as usual. Ian's right we are seeing more members report these kinds of things here.

I encountered two of these windows over the weekend in about half an hour of surfing. On my case I was able to force quit Safari. I like the idea of bringing up the window from another program though. I hadn't thought of the.
