AmpKit Link to Macbook Air Audio In

I have an old Peavey Ampkit Link designed for iPad/iPhone and works well. I was hoping I could connect it to my MacBook Air as the 3.5mm jack has 4 segments as required, but it is not recognised on the Macbook Air. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3.

Any thoughts.
