how to use ethernet

i am coonnected to my router at home how can i connect via ethernet and what i need to do that

Sounds like you've already completed the task. If you're connected to the router most likely it's via ethernet.

unless its wireless..
to be connected via ethernet its really simple, just attach the ethernet cable from the computer to the router. The computer should do everything automatically and there should be no reason to set it up. If you have to you can do this in the network preference pane in system preferences.
