I don't know how I got a Yahoo mail account. I don't want it. All I get is bulk mail. How do I get rid of it?

You could just go into System Preferences > Internet Accounts, highlight from the list on the left the Yahoo account and then click on the minus symbol. Account removed.

The same could be achieved if you are using Mail: Mail > Preferences > Accounts > highlight Yahoo and click on minus symbol.

Ashwin beat me to it by a nanosecond. His suggestion tackles the problem from the Yahoo end by going on to their website.

I think either means should work. His suggestion may be more robust.

You could also just ignore that account.:)

Over the past 20 years of the internet…I'm sure I've lost count of the number of email accounts I've created…no longer use (don't even remember what the USERID's or PW's are...or who they're with). And I'm sure were never "cancelled" or officially closed out.;)

Gosh. Not bad. Question posted and solution apparently worked, all within 13 minutes.
