Can't create Apple ID

Hi,

I recently bought a new MacBook I am have been trying to create a new Apple ID.
The problem is that when I try to create a new ID using my e-mail address, it says that an ID with that address already exists. But when I try to recover my ID, it says that no ID with that address exists.

Is there a way to create/recover my ID without creating a new address?
