I've gotten away from my Windows-centric way of doing things pretty well since moving to my iMac (running 10.10.2, specs below my avatar).
But one thing eludes me a bit. I can't seem to get away from wanting something for image editing I'm already use to.

I do a lot of meme creating and relatively simple to moderate image editing. In Windows I was using FastStone Image Viewer and Paint.Net.

I'm currently using SeaShore and PhotoScape X. But I miss a couple features like changing canvas size and color, importing layer from file
and the ability to position and change size of the new layer.

Recommendations?

FastStone = Phoenix Slides http://blyt.net/phxslides/
From the CNET staff review: "Apart from being able to perform lossless transformations on JPEG files, the program doesn't offer any additional options for image editing"

Probably not what I'm looking for. I did download The GIMP. I haven't used in in years. I like the window mode. I'll play around with that for a while and see how well I can acclimate.

A bit pricey at $29.99. But it really does look amazing. I'll continue with The GIMP for a bit. But Pixelmator looks very much like what I might need.

Many thanks, guys!!

I went ahead and purchased Pixelmator. I used the trial version for a couple days and pulled the purchase trigger. Excellent app. Pixelmator, in conjunction with PhotoScape X, will work very well for me.

Thanks so much for the advice!!

I've been looking for a good general graphics app too, I was thinking about getting Photoshop since the "photography package" with PS and Lightroom is quite cheap, but I don't actually want to commit to an annual contract. I'll try Pixelmator, does it have all the abilities to do print work too? I need to get something printed and they only take professional print ready pdfs.
