I get calls like this at least twice a month. If I have time I like to keep these scum on the phone for as long as possible.
I've had a few of them quite irate by the end of the call, it always brightens my day. If I can keep them on the phone then they are not bothering someone who might fall for their crap.

Do Not Call Registers etc do not work Down Under as the calls come from overseas.

Now great news should have mention it earlier! Our scammers have overcome the 'I have a Mac' problem by introducing this service for us. Have a read:-

Charlie it is quite beyond me why Telstra, the National Carrier, allow scammers calls in from overseas using their brand name.

Probably because Telstra can not tell the difference when an oversea call comes in. Besides, phone carriers really don't care about protecting you and I against scammers, they're in the business to make money. We have to protect ourselves.

I can remember the many battles I fought with AT&T when they were the only long distance carrier in the US. :Shouting:

When you pay $39/mo for 600MB of LTE data, this becomes abundantly clear (I was even greeted by a rep from Fido who said, on seeing that my plan was no longer offered, to hold onto it since they now charge more for less). ;)

:) One battle I had with AT&T. Don't know what it is now since the wife has been paying all the bills for the last, oh, a bunch of years - but at that time their billing was a month in advance. e.g. they wanted payment on June 1 for service that did not begin until July 1... I didn't pay them until June 7. I received another bill on June 21 showing their receipt of the payment for my July service, but wanted me to pay a late fee for paying for my July service only 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks in advance. That's simply not happening I explained to them as they passed me up their chain of command.
