Your Mac's Specs
Mid 2012 MBP - 13" i5 3210M, 16GB RAM, 240GB SSD, 500GB storage (in place of optical).
so i think i know what the problem is, but i would really like to bounce some things off of people
obviously im having issues with sounds from my MBP 2013 (running Yosemite)
its intermittent
every once in a while when i plug in head phones, or a flash drive
the machine acts like the audio device isnt connected
for example:
if i plug in some skull candy ear buds (that work just fine) i will not get any sound from anything
not the built in speaker, or the ear buds
i have had something along those lines with a flash drive
i plugged it in and started to play a video file
and i got no sound (from my MBP)
but i got sound from other machines
it has even acted weird with iTunes before

i have this program called Boom (and Boom2)
and its only started acting this way with Yosemite and Boom2

intro for boom2
website for boom/ boom2

i guess i should remove Boom2
but i really dont want too
any advise?

and i still dont know what to do about those 2 folders in the launch pad....

I too have Boom, and have had intermittent audio troubles. Seems to always happen after a OS upgrade. Make sure you have the latest version of the Boom app.
