• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Improving DVD Quality?

I've noticed while watching DVDs on my Mac that the video quality is not as great as, say, watching it on a TV. Any tips on how to improve this?

it's probably your monitor....try running the mac into your tv(if you have the cables, if not you can get them pretty cheap, or if you are uber rich, you may have a tv with a VGA plug)

you don't have to be ultra rich to have a tv with a vga plug, my hd tv has one of these, also my cable box has a dvi plug as well. Its not expensive tvs, its new tvs.

If its a DVD burnt using iDVD, go to preferences and choose Quality over performance before burning the DVD.

Go under System Preferences and lower the resolution. Pending upon your Mac, 1024x768 or 800x600 works pretty well.
