quick time saving files

I am having a problem saving mp3's that are web-based. With windows you right click and "save target as." But with mp3's it opens quicktime in the browser and I can't drag it to the desktop or save it from the file menu. When I do it is only an empty file. From reading the Apple website it looks like I have to buy quicktime pro for $30 to do this. Is there any way around this? Is there something else I can do?

Thanks so much. This is making me crazy.

qt pro is an easy way, another way is to view the pages html, look for the file link like http://www.site.com/song.mp3 or something similar, then copy and paste that url into your downloads window in safari.
