MacBook Air - Grey Screen on Boot, "OLD MAC" Message Appears

We have a Mac Air and we get a gray screen with the Mac icon and the words "OLD MAC" does this mean anything and do we need to do anything about it.

What is a Mac Air? Do you perhaps mean a MacBook Air? Or could you be talking about a Mac mini?

Where did you get this machine from? Sounds like you're seeing a custom name or message the previous owner put on, which means they didn't properly erase this machine before you got it.
