Good day everyone,

I would like to take pictures of human eyes. I suppose I need a macro lens.

Does anyone have suggestions and differences between prices.

Thank you

Oh just as a note.
My setup is: Nikon D3200, 18-55mm kit lens, 55-300mm, 35mm DX 1.8g

I've always liked both the 85mm and 105mm macros both allow for a 1:1 ratio but still leave some space between you and the subject. No idea on the pricing.

Hard to recommend without knowing exactly what you are doing, but

1) The 18-55mm kit lens actually does fairly well on close-up pics if you don't need to fill the screen with an eyeball
2) Nikon 40mm DX is a decent lens and cheap. Only downside is will require a closer working distance from your subject than the longer lenses (60mm, 85mm and 105mm)
3) With any of them, proper lighting of the subject may be more critical than your lens selection

105 all the way. That will give you an effective focal length of about 157 mm on your DX body.

my sister uses the Sigma 105mm f2.8 and really likes it.

the Tamron 90mm f2.8 also gets good reviews

Hi everyone,

I have purchased and received the Nikon 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro.

I have tested it and it is really great!

I have a question; Why would I use my 35mm now? That 60mm macro lens seems to do great shots for portrait...

Note: I have ordered Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro... I will have a look at both and compare shots and working distance.

I am really close to the person when taking an "eye" picture. (with the 60mm)

Do you have any tips on which setting I should put my D3200 when doing macro? (Macro mode, P, A)?

Thanks!

I don't shoot macro often, but when I do I shoot in aperture priority mode so I can control the depth of field. I also use a tripod and a cable release, or set the camera to lock the mirror in up position and set a two or three second delay to quell vibrations.
