Excel Mac 2011 spreadsheet password recovery or removal

Help! I'm trying to open an Excel 2011 spreadsheet on a Mac, but I've forgotten the password! Would appreciate any advice...

It's says my password is protected..

If your Excel document (spreadsheet) was password protected and you forgot the password, you might just be out of luck. Do some googling on the web and look for a Microsoft Office document password recovery program. There are several but they'll cost you some $$ to register or they won't work. However, the programs that I'm familiar with are Windows only so you may have to transfer your spreadsheet to a Windows PC and use the program there.

Next time, write the password down somewhere.

You don't know that and please do not make accusatory statements.

i did not make any such thing i was just warning users because you are correct password protecting a file is not a good idea because people always think its something illegal

Password Protection can be pretty dangerous. If one is forgetful (like me) an indexed notebook is the go. Now where did I put my notebook?
