what is this icon on the top right information bar?

looks like a cartoon text cloud but nothing is in it. I have a screen shot of it but I don't know how to upload the .png file.

somehow I'm sure this is not viewable. Sorry I couldn't get the png in the post

If understand your post it's probably the iMessages status icon. Give this a quick read. If it doesn't fix the problem let us know.

Also Notifications is on the very top right. Click on it and it opens.

This completely solves the issue of what is it and I'll figure out how to use it now.

Glad to help. I wasn't sure that was it since there are a few other icons sometimes described that way.

That icon is basically a quick way to change your online status in iMessages. You can easily go from say offline to available, away, etc.
