A yellow line running down the monitor.

There is a yellow line running down the monitor of my 3 week old NEW iMac.
After a call to apple care, I am going to get a new computer in 7 to 10 days.
kind of a bummer.
So I will have to do my first time machine restore in a week.

We will see how this goes.

I'm glad Apple is on top of it. Any idea what caused that?

Sorry to hear of the defect, I know its disappointing. Happily, its also very rare, so maybe this is your week to get a lottery ticket!

Nope no idea, I was importing some photos and went to watch TV for an hour and turned it back on the there it was.

Looks like it could be a Column of dead pixels.

It is, all the blues are out in that row (looks yellow).
I have an Full def. photo you can see it plain as day.

Well Apple did not order my computer!
I called yesterday and got the-- ops we forgot.
That's not the customer service I was told about!
Hopefully it will be here when I get back from vacation.

I think that you skipped a chapter in this story! You never told us the outcome of your Apple visit…or that they were ordering you another computer.

As far as the customer service…sorry to hear about it…but mistakes can happen. Is ANYTHING in this world 100% perfect??…I think not. Cut them a little bit of slack…give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake!

Yep, at least it's functional, so now referring back to your first post where you mention your first Time Machine Restore. Given you will be running the same OS on both Machines and I assume not a lot of accumulated data yet, the easy way is to connect the two iMacs via cable and transfer everything via Migration Assistant. With a bit of pleading they may be willing to do that for you in the shop since I suppose you have to return your old iMac when you pickup the new one. Worth a try otherwise if you need help with a restore from TM just ask. It's a valuable learning experience and not difficult in your case.

OK, I got the New Computer and did a time Machine Restore and it WORKED GREAT! Very HAPPY!

Now I need to start working on Vacation photos. I do like I photo.
