i have 4 gigs and i really need more as my 27 inch model can run slow when doing video stuff
I have not got a clue but i found this

Your Mac contains 4 memory slots, each of which accepts
a 1067 MHz DDR3 memory module.
2 memory slots in use, 2 available

so i have 4 gig in but would like 16

where would i get 2 x 8gig memory for my iMac
Mine is the 27inch model late 2009

im in uk so can use ebay but theres loads of different memory types

thanks for any help

yes i know i can go apple but they will charge a fortune

Crucial.com is one of the ram suppliers we recommend. They have a UK based distribution center…so you could try them.:)

For what it's going to cost to ship to Australia…I might as well send a 6-pack!;)

@tomhud:

Look to the right side of the reply dialog box. You should see three square boxes; if you hold your mouse cursor over each an explanation will appear. The left most box says "Add to reputation". That's the "Thank you" box. You can place remarks in the dialog which will appear when you click on that box. Something such as "Thanks for the help". :)

I'm a bit late here but I have a feeling that Crucial.com gave another user in another thread the incorrect info on a similar iMac and I'd suggest double checking that a 2009 iMac can actually use the 8GB modules.

I have a feeling that they can't be used, but our local site has the correct info and the RAM but a bit too far away perhaps:
Canada RAM sells memory in Canada - Apple Macintosh iMac intel Core2Duo, CoreDuo 17", 20" and 24"

I'd check with OWC - Other World Computing (OWC) - Performance Upgrades For Your Mac

They're more reliable IMHO. :D

Or even http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...uo-3.06-27-inch-aluminum-late-2009-specs.html

"This model supports four 4 GB modules -- one in each slot for a maximum of 16 GB of memory. "

Bold mine. ;)

I just went to the Crucial site. They correctly identify the 2009 iMac models capable of only 16GB. 4 x 4 GB modules. However, the Crucial site has been re-done and has been made more difficult to navigate and search. OWC, EveryMac, and Mactracker are best. And of course for you Northerners on the Left Coast.... CanadaRam. ;)

I like that Northerners on the Left Coast part, but I'll leave that name for those so politically inclined of which we have many!!! ;) :D

Others usually refer to us on the Wet Coast, but this summer's weather and almost drought has almost changed that. But yes, we have CanadaRAM. ;)

Wow!!! That Crucial site sure is something else to try and figure out one's upgrade choice. :(

Thanks for clarifying. I was beginning to worry that you had picked up some "interesting", if unexplainable, eating habits.
