Hi all, new user here.

Just bought my first Mac Mini a couple weeks ago. Now, after getting some iTunes gift cards i bought some movies. I have warmed up to buying digital copies of movies, games, and music. And now i want to get an ATV to stream the movies to the TV for the family to watch. My question is, Do i need Airport to make this happen? Or can i just use my setup that i have now. I have a cable modem/router built into one through my ISP. I run a switch which feeds my Mini and my Xbox1. My plan is to hard wire the ATV to the router as well. Does Airplay require an Airport?

Thanks
Jeff

No, it does not. You can use your existing router. Basically the Mini and the ATV need to be in the same network, however that happens.
