converting video files for nexus 10

i have a nexus 10 and would like to convert some video files for it.

What is the best free app to do this.

Since many folks may not be familiar with the Nexus 10 Tablet, how about stating what kind of video files you have to convert. And what video formats are compatible with the Nexus 10 Tablet?

Another helpful clue that would help us help you is to state what computer you have (PC or Mac, OS version, specs, etc) on which you're going to do the conversion.

It's Android - it'll play just about any common mp4 file you throw at it. Handbrake will do the job just fine.

I will be using my new iMac 27" i7 3.5 to do the conversion.

the google nexus 10 uses the following formats,

Supported Video Formats: H.263, H.264, AVC, MPEG-4, VP8

Supported Audio Formats: AAC, FLAC, MP3, MIDI, PCM/WAVE, Vorbis, AMP-WB, AMR-NB

As Van said, the H.264 or MPEG-4 should do just fine for the video codec, AAC or MP3 would be my suggestions for the audio codec since they are widely used but don't take up as much space as the lossless formats.

Handbrake should be able to do the job, though I prefer the inexpensive Permute and iFFmpeg programs solely because they are more Mac-like and elegant. There's also the free "Adapter" and VideoMonkey, which I think is still free.
