I have a (non-wifi) HP deskjet 1050 printer which works OK with my (soon to be redundant) PC. I have connected it to my Macbookpro and although I can see the printer listed and can send jobs to it, and see the jobs in the print queue and (supposedly) executed, nothing prints. I have checked the cabling and switched the printer on and off, deinstalled and installed the printer but nothing works. (The MacBook "thinks" everything is OK but the printer is not receiving / printing anything.) Can anyone help, please?

What version of OS X are you using, and did you download drivers from the HP website

Thank you for your reply. The OS X is the very latest - machine is brand new and latest available updates from Apple were installed before I started the printer connection process. I did not d/l the printer driver from HP - the machine seemed to recognise the printer and install the driver automatically. Maybe (as an Apple newbie) I was mistaken in this. Do I assume that I should have manually d/l'ed the driver from the HP website?

You shouldn't have to download drivers from HP if the driver was provided in OS X, but in my experience, the driver data base that OS X uses leaves much to be desired.

I would try downloading the latest driver from HP if the driver provided in OS X is not working for you. You could also try resetting the driver data base first to see if it helps. Follow these directions: LINK
