IP adress duplication on my home network

message is that 2 devices have the same IP adress, how do I ensure no duplication?

We need more details than this. Which two devices? How is your network setup? Are you using DHCP or static IPs? What version of the OS (OS X/iOS) are you using?

What router are you using? Does this happen frequently or relatively infrequently? Does the computer that can't get an IP eventually get one or does it get stuck without a connection? Are you, by chance, trying to use two routers?
