Hi all.

You'll notice I'm still on the switcher forum after all this time.

I've got an old win xp notebook with some .xml and bak files that I've emailed over to the iMac in a folder which is showing up in mail as .lnk files. I've installed "file viewer" from the app store, but this won't touch them.

I've had a bit of a trawl around the site, but can't find anything that helps.

Any ideas ?

.lnk files are what Mac users would call "aliases." Not real files, just the pointer to where the files are.

Simpler solution: copy the files to a thumb drive, open the thumb drive on the Mac, put the files where you want them.

Thanks chas_m.

I managed to fluke it somehow, but at least I got them. Thanks to you, I now know that the .lnk files are aliases.

If I do have anymore problems, I'll use the thumb drive.

Regards.
