Use Mac as a PA system?

Can I use a microphone to add live commentary to a PowerPoint or other presentation. Have 2013 MacBook Pro running Mavericks.

You seem to be asking two questions.

You can add narration and audio to a PowerPoint presentation on the Mac. See the screenshot below for what it looks like in Office:mac 2008.

As for using it as a "PA System": probably not. You can hook the Mac into a PA system and play the audio but Macs are not designed with room-filling audio amplifiers.

Making a joyful sound

Can a microphone be used to make live responses to an audience of PowerPoint or Keynote presentations? I have a 2013 MacBook Pro running Mavericks.
