• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

No WMV's on Intel iMac?

My friend just made the switch from Windows to Apple and purchased a 17" Intel iMac. While setting it up I couldn't get Windows Media Player to download. Anybody know what the problem could be? I hope it's not an Intel issue because I have a MacBook Pro coming and it will be weird to not be able to watch WMV's.

I tried that but Flip4Mac didn't work either. I thought maybe I needed WMP first but then I read that at this time Flip4Mac does not work under Rosetta. Were you guys able to install Flip4Mac on Intel Macs?

Indeed.

Flip4Mac is yet to go Universal Binary, although it will in the very near future.
It does not work under Rosetta and therefore, if you're on an Intel box right now, in simple terms you cannot run Flip4Mac. Although as I said, never fear as the UB will be out very soon.

What I really want to know though is.....Does Flip4Mac play WMV3 video?
I will happily admit that I follow WWE and I am unable to view any of their videos on their website on my new Intel iMac, they all download as WVX files which apparently contain WMV3 video.
Could someone who has a PowerPC Mac try and play a video from www.wwe.com and test it please?
It seems us Mac users find it very hard to play any kind of WMV3 file.

Cheers,

iBook G3 - You'll be missed.
i heard M$ isn't going to make a universal binary for it, but they probably will just so it can expand their monopoly a little more.
