I am sure this has been asked, but I cannot find the answer.
I have hundreds of mail messages I need to keep.
How do I move them from my old to my new iMac.
I use mail.

Just set up "Mail" like it was setup on your old computer…and when you launch Mail on the new computer…all of the old e-mail should sync into "Mail" on the new computer.

I change computers all the time (I use 3-4 different computers at home)…using Mail to organize my 4-5 e-mail accounts…and everything is good.:)

OK, I think I have done that, but the only things moved over are from iCloud, I have about 50 folders full of e-mails I need.
My accounts are fine, but cannot figure out how to import the old mail.

If you've setup all of your e-mail accounts properly with Mail on the new computer (this should have been relatively easy with the first launch of Mail). You can try going to the the "Mailbox" drop down menu in Mail…and choose "Synchronize All Accounts"…and see if that helps.

Also check under the "Mailbox" drop down menu that all of your accounts are "Online".

If you had used Time Machine to backup your old iMac and the automated Migration Assistant process when first turning on your new iMac 27", all mail and everything else would have been carried over.

^^^^ what chscag said.

For some strange reason you didn't take the easy, hassle-free route; now you have to do things the hard way.

You can locate the mail folders on your old Mac, take note of their location and then copy them over to the new Mac and put them in the same location, then rebuild the Mail database.

Another option would be to use your Time Machine backups (cuz you have those, right??) to "restore" the Mail folder (not the mail program, see first suggestion about location) and put it in on the new Mac.

So I cannot still do this?

I'm not sure whats wrong even with a crossover cable the 2 computers or new computer and time machine cannot 'see' each other.
I thought this would be so easy, but I cannot move anything over except what is on iCloud.

Before I drive my husband insane I need help.
Should I just call Apple?

I dont have airdrop on my 24.

My husband spent hours on the phone with apple.
He did 'migrate' somethings.
BUT so many things are still on the 24 that I want on the 27.
I know now how to bring them over 1 folder at a time, but this will take weeks.
I dont know why all of the stuff did not migrate.
Even my iphotos have not gone over.
I feel like it was all done wrong.I wasnt home while they did it it.
Is there a way to get into my time capsule on the 24 to bring it all over at once? Will it double up on stuff I do have over?

I am so sorry to have bugged you all with my STUPID questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was my husbands fault , he CHANGED THE NAME, of my computer.
The migration was done and done correctly.
We just had to find the wrong account and delete it and just use the one with the correct name.
I dont have any idea why or how he did it, but its fixed.
After my bloody Mary's last night and his whiskey we both have hang overs, BUT ITS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I truly do appreciate you guys and I hope I am allowed to come back again with questions.
Thanks for trying to help, you were right all along a correct migration does work.
