Earlier today Barclays Bank was advising its Apple customers to upgrade to the latest version of Mavericks on account of some unspecified security problem.

The message seems to have since been removed but it would do no harm to take the advice.

They're probably referring to the security fix that Apple included with Mavericks update 10.9.2. Yes, it's advisable to upgrade to the latest.

How thoughtful of your bank.

It is usually the case bank IT folk are only experienced with Windows PC and AV software and have no knowledge of OS X. It is very good advise from Barclays to update Mavericks for the latest threat protection.

Barclaycard is the financial institution that Apple uses if you finance a purchase through the Apple Store.
