New Folders in Word for Mac

How do I set up Folders in Word for Mac?

Folders aren't created in Word - you create them in Finder. Right click an empty space and select New Folder. The only place to do this in Word is in open or save dialogs - there's a new folder button in the bottom left.

Note... in addition to right clicking on an empty space in the Finder and selecting "New Folder", you can also click on the "New Folder" icon in the Finder tool bar. Unlike the Windows version of Word where you can create a new folder from within Word, you can not do the same in Word for the Mac.

Couldn't do it with the right click on an empty space, but through trial and error, did it through Finder, "New Folder". Unfortunately, I hadn't read chscag's post yet. But all's well, that ends well. Thank you both!

It is also a good idea to create the new folders for these Word files within your Documents folder. You really should be able to right click on the Desktop or in the Documents folder (or any folder) and see a New Folder selection. Also, each open folder (called a Finder window) can have "buttons" in the toolbar at the top. One of those is New Folder. If you come back and read this, and don't see that, we can take you through the process to get it.
