very basic iTunes query ! ?

Hi all, I have purchased only two Albums via iTunes, both Pink Floyd

I can play them on both my iPhone and MacBookPro

On my Mac Book Pro using iTunes I have copies of a lot of my purchased Audio CD's

My basic question is :- Can I get the Audio CD's which are in iTunes on my MBP into iTunes on my iPhone ?????

Why my sudden interest in the music on my iPhone you may ask ?

I have just got a Speaker Box to put under my TV, this Speaker Box has Bluetooth, I found last night it does a pretty good job of playing my Pink Floyd music from my iPhone through this speaker box and they sound great, even better when the wife goes out LOL. But it appears to me that I can ONLY play Music I have purchased via iTunes !

PS. my Wife hates Pink Floyd

Yes just create a playlist and sync your iPhone to that playlist in iTunes

But it appears to me that I can ONLY play Music I have purchased via iTunes !

Not so, it'll send any audio the phone can play over bluetooth

When you sync your phone to iTunes you have the ability to sync all,playlists,artists etc. etc. you have to check all that apply and a friend noticed he only had purchased checked therefore only purchased songs appeared on his iPad.

Thank you lads , most helpful, I should 'ave realised it was THAT easy, I just got a message that my iPhone is well overdue for backing up anyway ! So when I connect it up, I shall be well away Kool. I suppose I will then have to watch the Memory Space I only have the 16gb model !

As long as your music format is MP3 it shouldn't take up much space. It's the videos and movies that can consume space very quickly.

I am new to this and was actually looking for information about this. I have imported a lot of my own cd's into itunes on my mbp and then synced them to my iphone. My fiance has a Galaxy S5, can I put the music from my mbp on her phone? I don't know what format they would have imported as from the cds.

Do you mean you're not sure what format the music got imported into iTunes? Here's one way to tell:

1. In iTunes make sure Music is selected on the left.
2. Click on "Songs" at the top.
3. From the iTunes View menu choose "Show View Options"
4. In the sheet that appears make sure the "kind" field is checked.

If you haven't changed the import settings recently you can go to iTunes Preferences. Make sure the General tab is checked. Then click the "Import Settings" option and the encoding format and settings will appear.

It's possible to do this, but may not be advisable. If she's syncing her phone to another computer, then attempting to sync it to your computer will overwrite her data (probably not what you want). A new Galaxy S5 that hasn't been previously synced would work fine with your Mac.

As for music formats, MP3 is the most universal (and also usually the crappiest sounding) format. AAC is better (and I believe the S5 support it), but still a compressed format (basically mandatory for putting music on phones, nothing wrong with that). There are uncompressed formats (AIFF, WAV, FLAC etc) but they take up HUGE amounts of space and IMO are best reserved for use with audiophile systems rather than phones.
