I received a Chromecast device for Christmas.
So far I am driving it from an Android tablet and a PC.

Tried to install Chromecast on the Mac mini and it tries to install the Chrome browser and fails.
Just says Install failed.

I did not install Chrome on the mini before Mavericks so don't know if it would have installed.

Anyone else using Chromecast on Mavericks?

I am running Chromecast from my older mid 2010 Mini and Mavericks.

I would install the Chrome browser on your Mini first. I already had it installed before installing the Chromecast app. The Chromecast app is only for the initial setup, which was ALREADY done with your Android tablet or PC.

The only way you can use Chromecast from a desktop (Mac or PC) is through the Chrome browser, which can cast a single browser tab at a time. I use it on my Mini all the time, but it has an older processor, a Core 2 Duo, which sometimes requires me to reduce the quality setting down to 480p. On my cheap Vizio 32" monitor, I can't see that much difference.

Let me know if you can install the Chrome browser separately.

Thanks,
I loaded Chrome first and it worked, then I loaded the Chromecast extension.

It's working.

Thanks again
