Apple has abolished the sync possibility to/from Macs and hand held devices. How is it possible to avoid iCloud when synchronizing Contacts and Calendar between Macs and the nice handheld devices? It does not make sense transmitting sensible data through the Internet regardless of any-bit encoding.

You have logged on to this forum using your sensitive credentials through the internet without any bit encoding .... How about that !

I am not sure I understand your post.

This is an open forum, nothing sensitive about that.

Contacts and Calendar on the Mac contain private as well as confidential company info. When synchronizing via iCloud it is in principle reviled to anyone who cares to “listen” to the Internet.

The encryption used on the connection may be impressive, but not to freaks covering the deciphering discipline.

Consequently I am looking for the possibility to sync directly between Mac and e.g. iPhone.

Upgrade to OS X Server on your Mac and setting up your own server for contacts and calendars - link.

I still find it just unbelievable that Apple would remove the ability to directly sync contacts between OS X & iOS.

Thank you for the link.

Interesting, but what an Apple detour to remain in the safe world.
