iMovie on a projector

Hi,

I have made an iMovie project (mainly a photo slideshow) as part of a wedding speech which takes place in just under 3 weeks and I'm trying to work out the best way to play this on a projector? The project has been made on a 2008 (or 2009) iMac running 10.8.3. with iMovie '11.

I did burn the project onto a dvd using iDVD but found the quality very bad, which I was kind of expecting. My other options are to borrow somebody's Macbook and transfer the project - how easy is this? Or carry my iMac to the venue?

Thanks.

Do you have an iPad or iPhone or smartphone of some description?

Yes, DVD is not the best option for high quality,as the resolution is only 720 x 576/480.

Use the Export Movie option in iMovie's Share Menu, then play that on the borrowed MacBook.

Sorry for the delay in responding! I have since been into an Apple store & they suggested exporting the video to iTunes, then transferring to my iPad. That is now done, I'm just waiting to find out what cable I will need to connect to the projector.

Thanks for the help.

That's where I was going with my post. As to which cable you need, that really depends on the connections available on the projector

Depends on your iPad model.

If you have an older iPad (3rd gen, iPad 2, original iPad) then you need a 30-pin to VGA cable.

If you have the latest iPad or iPad mini, you need a Lightning to VGA cable.

If you were to use an Apple TV hooked to a projector, you could wirelessly transmit the video from the iPad (not the original iPad, but all subsequent models) to the Apple TV using AirPlay.
