Word 2004 - Help!

I typed some kind of a shortcut and now every Word document I open shows paragraph marks and stuff. It's really annoying! How do I get rid of it? I've tried the help, but it's no "help"

click the icon in the tool bar that i have highlighted in the picture.

thank you! it wasn't there because i had it in notebook view, that was the problem. ah, i can finally take notes in class without losing my mind. you're the best.
