up grade network

I would like to upgrade my current network with my Mac Mini Currently running a Surfboard modem and Link sys WRT54G2V Looking for better connection and speed going in two story house modem is in basement Looking for ideas and anyone would recomend THX

I assume you are connecting to the Linksys router through WiFi, and if so, boosting the signal strength will get you better speed. So something like an Airport Extreme base station connected to the modem and an Airport Express extending the network might get you better coverage and speed.

This will also get you 802.11N as opposed to the 802.11G you have right now. Just moving to a 802.11N router without any other changes might be a boost from what you have..

Ideally, the BEST way of getting speed is to go with a hardwired Ethernet connection to the router.
