Photos from email to iPhoto

I have just started learning, and using, iPhoto. Apparently, I should be able to transfer photos from an email message to iPhoto, using the Save button, and by choosing the Add to iPhoto. But when doing this, nothing happens, or, at least, I don´t find the pictures (...jpg) in Events or Imported pictures. I have tried to hold down the cmd as well as leaving it untouched, I have tried to mark one photo only, to no avail.
What is the correct procedure? Probably very easy, but I am lost...

It's some kind of bug, I've had that happen to me on occasion as well.

I've gotten in the habit of just dragging the photo straight off the email down to the iPhoto icon in the dock. Works every time, and you can drag multiple photos at once that way.
