I usually run about 2 windows and 10 tabs in total on my iBook, and it doesn't slow down. what else do you have open?

Yeah, I would look at what else you have open, how much RAM, etc.
A permissions repair or Pref file removal might help as well

You might want to reset Safari (SAFARI > RESET SAFARI).

Some other stuff you can try:

1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu

2. Trash your Icons Folder:
HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)

3. You might want to check all three "auto" preferences in Safari. Sometimes those lists gets very long and need pruning. (I turned all autofill boxes off, and have no problems.)

I achieve these things automatically using a nifty little app called "Safari Enhancer". Works great! I don't have a link for where to download it, but you'll find it with Google.

I've been noticeing this too...
Especially when comparing Safari whilst tabbing with Camino, Camino just whizzes by...

Thanks for all the tips, lets see if it has helped...
