Not nearly enough information to go on..

How old is the Mac? What are the specs? What version of OS X? What applications are running? Way does activity monitor say about CPU and memory usage? Was it always slow?

My new iMac is SLOW. Expected faster responses after my old slow PC:Mischievous:

but what I do know it is slower than expected. brand new Netgear router as well.

You weren't exactly clear in regards to WHAT is slow on your new iMac. Since you mentioned a "router" in your 2nd post...are you talking about slow internet? If not...please elaborate...What is slow??

This can go so much easier if you just tell us in DETAIL what you are trying to say. One word posts and vague remarks in no way illicit useful responses or any responses at all..

If it's the internet that's slow, post some Speedtest.com benchmarks.

If it's something else you're talking about, please elaborate so we can get some fix on what you're talking about. Certainly a new iMac with 8GB of RAM shouldn't be slow.

Some specific specs on your machine would be helpful too. Though I doubt this would be the source, also if you could mention the amount of free space on your drive you have, that would be good too.

Thanks for the replies.

Be sure to take details of your modem/router with you and it is 802.11N rated.
