They should've kept that name for the cheaper iPhone they're supposedly developing...

In many way the early iPhones seem to me to be an extension of the Newton line. Hate to see that name go by the wayside. Maybe they will revive it for whatever wearable computing device eventually pops up.

I may be wrong on this, as I was on the iPad Mini, but I just can't see Apple competing on the low end with a special cost-reduced iPhone. Their strategy of offering older models at deep discounts seems to work just fine for them.

I still have a Newton sitting on a shelf in my closet. No battery, but it worked last time it had a battery in it.
